Fast F12 Beta 1 Released
While I was on vacation in California I decided to brush up on my C# and .NET skills, and make a Blender app. I took an idea that I had about a year back that I wanted to do, but never got the time. When you open Blender with a shell or console window, you can pass several parameters or arguments to the program to do things like render a frame. For example I could run:
[Location of Blender.exe] -b [Location of .Blend File] -f 1
And it would render the first frame of the currently .Blend File, and save it in your tmp directory. My program utilizes the blender run parameters to provide easy background rendering with a simple interface. It will really come in handy when you want to render out a bunch projects while you are away from your computer, and they will render in order from a list until complete. The next step to this is a distributed render app, which I hope to complete in a few weeks if I have time. Please follow the blog of you would like to keep up to date on my progress. Below is additional information on the project, and a download link. Please do not contact me directly with help or comments about this program. I will just disregard it. I have provided support topic on the forum, so everyone can see problems other people are having, and I can offer a fix to everyone at once. Support and Help Links:

I hope you enjoy using the program. Please provide feedback on the program through the support topics, it will really help in the development of this program. Also take a look at the info video for this program, and don’t forget to subscribe via RSS or Email if you liked this post.

It would be great having this app also available in other platforms, like linux and Mac OS X… Is it being developed?

I don’t have plans to release it for Linux or Mac OS X at the moment, but if I get more interest I might. If anyone would like to help with that that would be great. Its only like 250 lines of code so it would only take a day to port.

IANAP – though is that not what the mono project allows, people to use their .net skills but write programs that run on osx, windows and linux.
